Danbatta Receives APPON Honorary Award

The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta, has been honored with the “Excellent Service Delivery and Accountability Award” by the Association of Public Procurement Practitioners of Nigeria (APPON) in acknowledgement of his exceptional work, particularly his dedication to ensuring strict compliance with the Public Procurement Act (PPA) 2007 at the NCC.

Danbatta was honored with the award at the 3rd Annual National Conference and Awards Ceremony held recently in Lagos by the APPON which signifies his commendable efforts in maintaining a compliant and accountable organization. His leadership at the NCC was recognized for its transparency, openness, and adherence to the public procurement laws of the country.

The President of APPON, Akparawa Kanico, praised the EVC for his exceptional leadership and capacity to motivate others in achieving a successful procurement process within the Commission. He highlighted Danbatta’s skillful leadership and administrative abilities, which have contributed to the substantial development of the telecommunications sector, enabling growth in various sectors of the economy and the nation as a whole.

Danbatta says the Commission aims to enhance broadband infrastructure to revolutionize procurement governance and create new opportunities for businesses and public institutions. By improving Internet connectivity, businesses can access e-procurement platforms more efficiently, submit proposals, track tender opportunities in real-time, and engage in online bidding.

During the event, the Head of Procurement Department at the NCC, Adejoke Atte, along with Bernard Kwembeh, a Principal Manager in the same department, were both honored as APPON Fellows.
