Covenant University Advocates Innovative Research

Encouraging a renaissance in creativity and innovation, Covenant University in Ogun has urged scholars in higher education to channel their efforts toward fresh innovative approaches.

During the three-day Covenant Innovation Week organized by CU and Covenant Applied Informatics and Communication Africa Centre of Excellence, titled ‘Innovate 360°-Navigating the Future,’ Prof. Abiodun Adebayo, the Vice-Chancellor, emphasized the importance of researchers and students embracing the necessary skills for innovation, both in Africa and globally.

Adebayo highlighted the event’s significance in aligning with Covenant University’s vision and mission of knowledge creation and restoring the dignity of the black race through Human Development and Total Man Concept-driven curricula.

Encouraging a mindset beyond conventional boundaries, Adebayo urged participants to embrace innovative thinking, emphasizing the need for renewed creativity throughout the Covenant Innovation Week.

Director of CAPIC ACE, Prof. Emeka Iweala, underscored the program’s objective of catalyzing innovations stemming from research that can yield marketable products and services. He revealed the center’s initiative, launching an initial funding purse with a $15,000 seed grant to support innovative researchers focusing on Malaria, Breast, and Prostate Cancer breakthroughs.

Tech-Executive, Musibau Lasisi, emphasized the divine mandate of innovation in enhancing human life, while another speaker, Itunu Isewon, shed light on technology’s multifaceted uses, potential misuses, and their societal impact.

Isewon emphasized the importance of discretion in uploading information to the internet. Additionally, Francis Odeyemi, the founder of Ninthgrid, underscored the significance of Artificial Intelligence, highlighting its pivotal role in technological progress.
