Mrs. Tosin Dokpesi, Managing Director of African Independent Television (AIT), has been elected as a board member of the prestigious International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, commonly known as the EMMY Awards. Her election, along with four other directors, two alternates, and 47 members from 20 different countries, was announced in a press release by the Academy.
With over three decades of experience in broadcasting and multiple awards to her name, both in Nigeria and internationally, Mrs. Dokpesi’s appointment marks a significant achievement for Nigeria’s media industry.

In addition to the election announcement, the Academy revealed the nominees for the 2024 International Emmy® Awards. There are 56 nominees across 14 categories, representing 21 countries, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Germany, India, and South Africa.
“Every year, the international television community competes to be recognized on the International Emmys’ much coveted global stage,” said Bruce L. Paisner, President & CEO of the International Academy. He praised the nominees for their exceptional programs and performances, reflecting the global appeal of great storytelling across genres, cultures, and countries.
Nominees will gather in New York from November 22-24 for the International Emmy® World Television Festival, where they will participate in panels, presentations, and special events. The winners will be unveiled at the 52nd International Emmy® Awards Gala on November 25, 2024, in New York City.
This year’s gala partners include Ay Yapim, Ernst & Young, Globo, and Variety, among others.
