On Tuesday, at the ongoing 2022 edition of AfricaNXT conference, co-sponsored by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and held at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, this notion of 5G’s bright prospects reverberated across numerous panel sessions.
Panelists from various organizations and AfricaNXT theme areas expressed optimism that 5G services will dramatically reduce unemployment in Nigeria if stakeholders partner with willing internet-compliant Nigerians on various initiatives prior to 5G deployment. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), as the country’s telecoms regulator, is playing a key role in the 5G network’s rollout.
The finance institution, among others, has created digital work tools and employment opportunities by partnering with result-oriented individuals on various financially rewarding tech projects, products, and solutions based on 5G, according to discussants invited to a panel session titled “Built to Last: Hardcoding Resilience into the DNA of your Business.”
In light of numerous opportunities for free global education via the Internet, which will be enhanced by 5G, panelists suggested that individuals identify themselves as businesses and continually improve their knowledge base in order to partner with numerous corporations in the country that have developed work solutions and tools that make working easier than being full-time employees.
Participants reasoned that companies that want to keep people who don’t want to work full-time can hire them to work remotely and provide outcomes by harnessing the range of possibilities that next-generation technologies like 5G will open up.
Objectively, panelists and participants feel that smart contracts enabled by 5G’s powerful connectivity will cut unemployment and secure Nigeria’s long-term socioeconomic progress.
In a panel discussion titled “Disruptive Public Relations in the Imminent Metaverse Era,” panelists agreed that the Metaverse will allow users to interact in a shared universe of unique experiences, despite the fact that it is still being developed and deployed. A metaverse is a collection of 3D virtual environments that are linked together to foster social interaction.
Indeed, Nigeria’s 5G services, which will usher in a new era of internet services with their high speed and ultra low latency capabilities, will provide the resilient technology and platforms that will position Nigeria as an early adopter of Materverse, which is expected to usher in a new era of industrial and social relations.
Mafab Communications Limited and MTN Nigeria were recently awarded 3.5GHz spectrum licenses by the NCC, and the two businesses are expected to deploy 5G services soon after winning the 3.5GHz spectrum auction in Abuja in December 2021.
Prof. Umar Danbatta, the NCC’s Executive Vice Chairman, has stated that the implementation of 5G services in Nigeria will provide Nigerians with incredible prospects.
The meeting brought together important stakeholders to discuss the importance of delivering 5G services in Nigeria and across Africa, with an emphasis on the benefits that 5G services can provide to individuals, businesses, and the economy.
