Ericsson Predicts 5G Will Accelerate Economic Digitization

 

The Vice President at Ericsson Middle East and Africa, Hossam Kandeel, believes that 5G technology will play a crucial role in advancing Nigeria’s digital economy. He emphasizes that Information and Communication Technology is a key driver of economic development. Kandeel highlights Nigeria’s significance as an ICT market in sub-Saharan Africa, noting the country’s abundant talent and resources in this field.

Hossam Kandeel regards Nigeria as a pivotal market in Sub-Saharan Africa with significant potential in terms of talent and resources. He emphasizes the role of the ICT industry in driving economic development and empowering people through learning.

He applauds Nigeria’s launch of 5G in September as a critical step toward advancing digitalization. Despite the current maturity of Nigeria’s ICT sector, he believes the country’s ambitions in ICT will continuously drive it towards a more developed future.

In a statement, Ericsson explained that the recent visit of its global delegation to the country aligns with its commitment to leveraging connectivity and technology to promote digitalization throughout the continent and contribute to sustainable development and economic advancement.

The statement mentioned that throughout the visit, Ericsson held productive dialogues with Nigeria’s communication service providers, stakeholders, and policymakers, addressing crucial issues within the country’s telecommunications sector. It emphasized the significance of connectivity in driving the nation’s digital objectives and the immense potential of 5G, cloud computing, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
