The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Idris Ibikunle Olorunnimbe as Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), following a thorough screening by its Committee on Communications.
During Tuesday’s plenary session, the Senate adopted the committee’s report and also approved the appointments of the following as Commissioners on the NCC Board:
Maryam Bayi – North East
Senator Ramoni Olalekan Mustafa – South West
Ikechukwu Ugwuegede – South East
Princess Oforitsenere Emiko – South South
Christopher Sandy Okorie – South South
These newly confirmed members join the already-serving Executive Vice Chairman, Dr. Aminu Maida (North West); Executive Commissioner, Technical Services, Engr. Abraham Oshadami (North Central); and Executive Commissioner, Stakeholder Management, Rimini H. Makama (North Central).
The confirmation of the new board members is expected to further strengthen the governance and regulatory oversight of the nation’s telecommunications sector under the leadership of the NCC.
