Lagos Future Conference Captures the Spirit of Innovation – Dr. Bayero Agabi

…says Digital Citizenship Comes with Responsibility

Dr. Bayero Agabi, president, DigiVation Network, has called for caution among the digital natives in Nigeria, to preserve the national values.

He made the remark in his welcome address at the Lagos Future Conference themed: ‘Future-Forward – Harnessing the Power of Youth, Innovation, and Technology for National Economic Growth’ held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Oriental Hotel, stressing that Online Cyber Responsibility is a must to protect intellectual property rights among other concerns.

He said the theme perfectly encapsulates the spirit of innovation, progress, and collective endeavours that define Nigerians.

“As we stand at the threshold of a new era, we recognize the transformative power of technology, entrepreneurship, and human ingenuity. The future belongs to those who dare to dream, innovate and push boundaries. It is our responsibility to harness these forces to drive sustainable development, create opportunities, and improve the lives of our citizens.

He added that, as good as these innovations are and the need to promote tech use and growth of major important is Online Cyber Responsibility and National Values these two areas are of a Harmonious Nexus.

“In today’s digital age, online cyber responsibility, and national values are intricately linked. As citizens navigate the vast online landscape, it’s essential to recognize the importance of upholding national values while exercising cyber responsibility.

“This means Respect Cultural Norms, and Values to uphold online. There is also need to Protect National Security and Critical Infrastructure. Another is to promote online etiquette and digital citizenship and uphold intellectual property rights and foster e-commerce.

“All these, well observed, will support economic growth and development.”

Speaking on the book unveiled: ‘The Nigeria Digital Heroes’, he said, it chronicles ideas, issues, people and policies that have shaped the industry in the past over the decades.
