Air Peace Flight Experiences Windshield Shatter Upon Landing in Abuja

An incident occurred on Monday involving an Air Peace Embraer ERJ 145 aircraft, which had its windshield shatter during its descent to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The flight, arriving from Akure in Ondo State, landed safely at 9:40 AM after departing at 8:30 AM. Notably, human rights advocate Omoyele Sowore was on board, heading to a court trial, and he shared the event on social media.

Although the flight crew did not inform passengers of the windshield issue, sources indicated it raised significant concern within the aviation community due to its unusual nature. Following the incident, Air Peace canceled both its Abuja to Lagos flight and the planned Akure to Lagos flight.

An Air Peace staff member, speaking anonymously, clarified that the issue was merely a crack that was quickly repaired, allowing the aircraft to resume flights later that day. Efforts to reach officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) for comment were unsuccessful.
