The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has praised the Kwara State Government for completing the e-Library and Edtech Hub projects.
The DG, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, expressed his gratitude to NITDA during the commissioning of the Kwara State e-Library and EdTech Hub, which took place recently in the State Capital, Ilorin, in conjunction with the United Nations 2022 International Day of Education.
Mr. Oladejo Olawumi, director, Standards, Guidelines and Frameworks Department of NITDA, spoke on behalf of Abdullahi, who stated that the Agency is always glad and ready to identify with such commendable efforts.
He stated that the State Government’s approach to ensuring sustainable development in the educational sector through the Kwara State e-Library and Edtech Hub projects, as well as striving for a Digital Transformation in the state, is highly commendable because it aligns with three of NITDA’s Seven Strategic Pillars:
“Digital Literacy and Skills,” which aims to assist the objective of obtaining a 95 percent digital literacy level in the next 10 years by enabling the development of digital skills in Nigerians from various walks of life.
Digital Transformation, which aims to offer a solid digital platform for the Nigerian digital economy’s digitalization operations; and
“Digital Innovation & Entrepreneurship” is a program that aims to help micro, small, medium, and innovative businesses succeed. We anticipate that this pillar’s outcome will result in the development of new jobs.
“All of this ties into the current administration’s National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS), demonstrating that we’re all putting our resources into guaranteeing the future of education by closing the digital gaps, as today’s subject so aptly captures.”
“NITDA applauds your initiative to collaborate with the Kwara State administration to establish e-Libraries throughout the state’s sixteen LGAs. This underpins the notion that we’re all working for the same national goal.
“In recent years, NITDA has established twenty-seven developmental projects in schools and local government areas in Kwara State, consisting of digital capacity building centers, digital capacity training centers, and digital economy centers.”
“All of the interventions were outfitted with information technology, internet access, power backup, and e-learning capabilities.
Furthermore, three digital economy training centers are now being established. I would add that your efforts have encouraged us at NITDA to boost our developmental endeavors in Kwara State, particularly because we can see a clear commitment to the long-term viability of such projects.
According to Abdullahi, the NITDA, as a regulatory and developmental agency, feels that innovations like this, which integrate the common man and woman into the global community of learning through digital technology, are arriving at a critical juncture in the economy.
“As a result, we have a good possibility of creating a society of intellectuals in which greater emphasis is placed on citizenship and their effective readiness to compete on an equal footing with their national and global counterparts.”
“As NITDA’s contribution to this unique effort, I guarantee you that NITDA would build linkages, collaborations, and partnerships to ensure the program’s long-term viability for the good people of Kwara State.”
Abdullahi urged beneficiaries to make wise use of the e-Library and Edtech Hub facilities, emphasizing that the knowledge gained should be used to improve and uplift Kwara State’s and Nigeria’s educational difficulties for long-term development.
“This is critical because we have a responsibility to raise our people’s educational standards in order to propel our developing economy to greater heights,” the NITDA executive added.
